Our goal is to provide quality alternative entertainment in the city of Halifax (Nova Scotia). By incorporating many different forms of entertainment such as neo and traditional burlesque acts, vaudeville, side show, belly dance, singing, comedy, and other types of alternative performances we pride ourselves in our unique East Coast style and interpretations of what a burlesque show should be. In addition to providing entertainment in the Halifax Nova Scotia we seek to be part of the larger world wide burlesque community by representing East Coast Canadian talent at events outside of Atlantic Canada. We feel it is also important to introduce outside talent to Halifax (via our shows) that normally wouldn’t have the venue to do so. Pink Velvet Burlesque embraces all body types, ages, races, and sexual orientations making for truly diverse shows with a little something for everyone. Audience interaction and participation are often encouraged through acts so don’t be surprised if you end up becoming part of one of the shows! As residents of the Halifax area we feel it is vital we also give back to our local community and have been involved with several fundraisers/charity events since our inception such as; The AIDS Walk for Life, Titz N’ Glitz, Brain Child, and various other community fundraiser groups. If you have a charity based group or event that you would like us to participate in, please contact us for further details

Founded by burlesque performer Miss C (AKA Cadence Macmichael) who formed the group in early 2006 after the only burlesque troupe in town (Halifax Burlesque Society) had disbanded in the summer of 2005. Wanting to continue to perform and keep the burlesque scene alive in Halifax she began developing Pink Velvet Burlesque with some help from her friend (and fellow former HBS member) Oliver Hugh (AKA Stephanie McNair). Calling on friends in the Halifax burlesque and drag scenes they began to pull together the troupe. Pink Velvet Burlesque’s very first show together was called “Strip Strip Hooray” in April of 2006, at the Evolution Cabaret on Gottingen Street. The event was a huge success with over three hundred people crammed into the small seating area on opening night. Ever since that first night the group been experiencing a whirl wind of performances together seemingly almost nonstop managing to appear in over two dozen shows in their first year! Each show has seen increasing attendance with 400 + people packing into venues to check out the dynamic groups entertaining antics.
